Polar Express Day
With hot cocoa and popcorn
The movie playing throughout the day.
Pajamas to school
Bear feet for shoes.
The chorus program this evening.
The world's greatest grandparents came to watch.
Their eyes were shining with happiness and love
As were the girl's eyes.
Late night supper
And grocery shopping.
Foods to make for her class Christmas party tomorrow.
The girl declared she was hyper as I tucked her in
Almost an hour past her bedtime.
She was asleep in less than five minutes.
Cooking.
Cleaning.
Conversing with the man who worked late, too.
Those bear feet of mine are ready to be bare feet
And between the sheets.
