I'm being followed by a tree shadow...

This shadow caught my attention as my husband and I were leaving to go to an art show at the local museum. He was patient enough to back up and let me run back in the house for my camera. No wonder I love him so much!

Pollyanna Fortune

My husband brought home a big box of fortune cookies leftover from a catering job. I couldn't help but grab a handful to play around with for a photo shoot. The first fortune I opened (I ate four five a few) had my favorite fortune of the day.

And the moon sees me...

Usually, my moon shots suck. I tried a faster shutter speed and liked the results.

Between Seasons

The rain returned with a vengeance and brought more winter along with it. Ironically, the pollen is now accumulating on the sides of the puddles and in the bird bath.

Sigh... I'm off to cover the plants. Again.

Hope

Some how... some way one Gerber Daisy made it in the garden. Apparently, Old Man Winter is trying to play a joke on this flower as there is another hard freeze coming in a couple of days.

Maybe I'll cut the flower and bring it inside. We could bond whilst I cook supper.

Age

"Age appears best in four things: old wood to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust and old authors to read." ~ Francis Bacon

Do the Japanese call these Japanese Magnolias?

I don't call the other Magnolia tree an American Magnolia. And do these Japanese Magnolias really grow in Japan? They are one of my favorite trees and they always bring the promise of spring far before the reality of spring settles in.

Guess who fertilized the garden?

She wasn't named Miss Poopy without a reason...

Like pieces of a puzzle

Not feeling creative or inspired today.

My husband built this patio a couple of summers ago for the fire pit area... which makes me long for warm summer nights.

Happiness is not the absence of problems but the ability to deal with them

I loved being off work today - despite being furloughed. Besides, there are worse things than a month of ramen noodles for supper (kidding! well, not really... because who wants to eat ramen noodles for an entire month...).

It was a gorgeous day -- but cold! I cleaned out the laundry room, worked out, got a haircut (short and sassy), made pizza and spent some quality time hanging out with the dog in the garden. It was an outstanding day!

Miss Poopy Soup

My sons and husband tell me that I pick Miss Poopy for the picture of the day too often. I say she is a willing model. And look at that face. Doesn't it just scream terrified having a blast?

For the record, she wasn't that cooperative. Regardless, she was treated to several treats. No need for enforcers of pet labor laws or PETA to come after me.

The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare

Only 3 weeks until my first half marathon. Today, I ran 13 miles - and that makes me feel confident about the upcoming race. This is one of my favorite streets to run down. I love how the aged oaks, covered with Spanish moss, branch out over the road. And the road ends at an old cemetery.

It is probably a good thing that I don't actually live on this street because I'd want to look at the view from the middle of the road all the time. And if I did that, I'd likely get hit by a car.

Meet the newest resident in our backyard

My husband loves to peruse junkyards. A couple of weeks ago, he found this awesome windmill that was missing a stand (I think he paid a whopping six bucks). The other day, he built a post for the windmill. It has been spinning around ever since. I love it!

Love is patient

And love is kind.

Just taking a moment to be thankful for all that my husband is to me and all he has encouraged me to become.

Pink Poodle

Career Day and Valentine's parties... A combination I would love to avoid next year. This strange, yet adorable, poodle was with one of the speakers. She was very popular with the students.

Blue Quietness

Green calmness below, blue quietness above.

The clouds put on a fantastic show today. The bad news is that it will stay cold for the next few days. The good news is that it might snow! How cool is that?!

Life is something like a trumpet...

Life is something like a trumpet... if you don't put anything in, you won't get anything out.

Heading out in a few minutes to hear my youngest son (the trumpet player) in a jazz concert.

Diamonds on the Water

It was a gorgeous morning and so I walked down to see the river. I brought my clothes and planned to do my long run all along the river but my husband wanted to head home to Georgia.

I ran 12 miles this afternoon after we got home. Woo Hoo!

Gentry

Gentry is my brother-in-law's class. Those eyes.... I love his eyes!

They may sound gross but these peanut butter burgers are delicious! I have to satisfy my peanut butter craving every now and then...

Evil Eye

Miss Poopy has perfected the evil eye. I may have to find a new model.

J-U-M-P

Just playing around with the wind-up doggie. The best thing about this dog is he can be turned off. And he doesn't pee on the rug.

Eternally Spring

The darn woodchuck saw his shadow today. Now I'm a little depressed.

Day Dreams

Today was one of those well needed days meant for the husband and I to reconnect. We hiked through the Botanical Gardens at UGA then decided to head home. On the way, we stopped in every junk store on the way and found some fabulous chairs.

It was a great day.

Now, I'm happy to be home.
