121/366 Sweets of the sunshine
One of the pomegranates from our tree this year.
Really, the only pomegranate from the tree this year. All the other blooms fell off and didn't make nice and create a pomegranate for us.
Obviously this pomegranate will be the best one of them all and the other blooms just couldn't compete.

120/366 Good enough moments
After a very busy week and an even busier weekend, I finally had some time to sit in the yard with my husband. I sat there and listened to the birds (and the man's snoring) while editing pictures from my baby photo shoot two weeks ago. The leggy basil peaking out over the top of my lap top begged to be photographed -- so I did. Since it ended up being the only picture I took today (they can't all be winners), I decided that it was going to be good enough for today's picture.
It may not be a great picture but it captures a great moment of contentment.
Life is good!
119/366 One Fine Day
My husband had 40 to 50 of his "hippie" friends from his college days. The stories these guys have are hilarious! What a time they must have had in the early 1970s! These guys still know how to party!
Several people gathered in the dining room to play and sing. It was an awesome weekend!

118/366 Scratching post
My neighbor's cat, Smokey, loves to pounce onto our cars and into our trees. I think he thinks he owns us, too.

117/366 Perky no more
Lots of things were going on at work today... took the 5th graders to the rising 6th grade orientation at the middle school... explained to a parent that I would file a restraining order against her if I had to... watched the theater group perform their play.... helped set up and worked at our school technology fair... worked on personnel changes for the upcoming school year... plus the regular duties of the school day and some other things but I'm just too foggy to remember.
I'm beat!

116/366 Food Coma
A friend of ours from Italy (really, she is gorgeous and has the best accent in the world!) was visiting and she cooked dinner.
Let's just say that I might have embarrassed myself. For the record, I did refrain from licking the plate (well, kind of...).
Running is a hobby of mine -- or at least I call it a hobby based on the number of hours I spend doing it. Is it okay to call eating a hobby? I think I'm really good at it!

115/366 Trees in my hand
This crystal ball does not tell the future. But it does reflect the coolest things!
Lesson learned... Don't hold the crystal ball up into the sunlight unless you want to start a fire. It began to burn my hand immediately!

114/366 Peas in a pod
I do love fresh peas.
Kid story of the day:
Me talking to a child brought to the office: "Would you have pulled your pants and underwear down like that if your mom had been in the room?"
Loves Birthday Suit Boy (with a completely puzzled look): "Well, no! I'm not supposed to show her my private parts anymore!"
You can't make this stuff up...

112/366 Hunger games
I took my ten year old cousin to see the movie today and it was AWESOME! Then we grabbed some pizzas to take home.
The smell of the pizzas were intoxicating! We got home and opened the pizza boxes. I grabbed some paper plates and let the boy cover his slice in red pepper. Then I realized they put cheese on my vegan pizza.
And now I am about to go back to pick up another pizza. It is as if I'm playing my own hunger game.

110/366 How YOU doin?
Mili is always curious about what lies on the other side of the gate.
Kid story of the day:
Little bitty preschooler: "Hey! You know what?"
Me: "I don't know. What?"
Little bitty preschooler (holding up her middle finger): "My finger is growing."
Me: "I'm sure that will come in handy one day."
She just nodded.
Ah.... kids are just so quirky and random sometimes! :)

108/366 My thoughts exactly
It was a loooonng day BUT I have good news! I am being moved to another elementary school as an assistant principal for the upcoming school year (I asked to be moved back). One of my friends (and someone I really respect) has been named principal and I think we will make a great team.
Whew!
Tonight, I had to attend an awards banquet for the school system. The program was great but a little long -- especially after all the emotions of the day.
Next on the list of things to do: Sleep through the night.

104/366 Make a wish
Sometimes the realities of what happens at school are tough. When students have illnesses with grim diagnoses, it affects the families and the school in profound ways. Today, Make-A-Wish brought a bicycle trailer to school for one of our students who is dying. She has three siblings at our school and they were brought up to the office to tie ribbons and balloons onto the device before we rolled it down to her classroom for the presentation.
Gut wrenching. And not a dry eye in the house.
If I could make a wish....

103/366 Wilted
Gerbera daisies from the garden. I think they look as tired as I feel.
Funny story of the day:
Mr. Frequent Flier in the Office: "Hey there! Want to know a secret?"
Me: "Sure! I love secrets!"
Mr. Frequent Flier (leaning in to whisper while simultaneously gagging me with the powerful smell of Brut cologne): "I wore some stuff that smells good for a girl."
Me: "Let me know how that works out for you."
Mr. Frequent Flier: "Yeah. Cuz you'll probably want to get some for your man, too."
Hilarious! I swear I smelled that cologne all day long.

101/366 Love and blooms
That orchid was bought on our honeymoon almost 8 years ago. I wish I could tell you that it blooms every year but that would not be accurate. Apparently, it blooms when watered regularly. Who knew?
So, last night I went to this art show because I entered two pieces (this and this). We walked around and looked at all the art work (there were over 400 entries). Then the man and I went to eat Indian food. When I got back to the car, I had a text from a friend that said one picture had won Honorable Mention and had sold! I would have stayed if I had thought I even had a chance for recognition but I really thought I was out of my league.
I'm still completely in awe.... and I'm not sure I deserve the recognition... I still have so much to learn!

94/366 Gardening in Georgia
Put the porch back together after the yearly hose down of the pine pollen. Also, spent some time weeding. It may be spring but it is already feeling like summer in Georgia.
Taken with the Lensbaby Muse. I've got a lot to learn!
Another picture taken with the Lensbaby Muse. I LOVE the bokeh but I wish I could have gotten the eyes of the dragonfly in focus. Oh, well. At least his wings look awesome.

92/366 The little issue of my pantry OCDism
By trade, I'm a teacher. That being said, I have been completely unable to train the man of the house (my husband, just in case you were wondering) on the ways the pantry should be organized.
To him, it needs no organization just as long as said food items are able to reside on a shelf. The door may or may not be closed.
Several years ago, I tried (in vain) to label the shelves to help him remember/figure out/care about where specific food items should be housed. It did not work. Finally, I just resigned myself to periodically cleaning out and organizing the chaos.
Today was one of those days and that just makes me happy (is it sad that an organized pantry makes me happy?).
Seriously, this picture is way more fun here.
