The Memory of Duane Allman

As part of our Macon, GA visit, we toured Rose Hill Cemetery. What a fantastic place! There is so much history there - including a Confederate Soldier section. We spent time at the final resting place of Duane Allman (and Berry Oakley, too).

In the spirit of the Allman Brothers, we also found Elizabeth Reed's grave ("The Memory of Elizabeth Reed"). What a serene place (where I suspect much experimentation of music and weed were practiced back in the day)! The song was written in memory of their time in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Ironically, Duane and Berry aren't buried too far from where they used to hang out and practice before they made it big.

Why do so many of the greatest musicians have to have such tragic ends?
