Nature is the art of God

Today, I went canoeing for the first time in my life! It is about time I learn my to embrace my southern roots.

I've seen this beautiful lake all my life. The cypress trees grow all about in this lake and made gorgeous clumps of shade that were perfect for a few minutes of respite on this hot, muggy day. The lake is unbelievably peaceful and quiet.

I was afraid to take my camera in the canoe (one never knows if there will be a capsize) as I was worried about an accidental baptism... so, the only pictures I took were from the bank of the lake.

I can't wait to go canoeing again!

Hi Beth,

Beautiful picture! You should check out the Aquapac. It is a waterproof camera bag. I went kayaking and canoeing over Memorial Day Weekend and used mine. It worked out pretty good. One of the features of the bag is that it will float if dropped in water and also completely submersible. I personally don't feel comfortable intentionally submerging my Aquapac with the camera in it, but feel secure enough to be near water with the camera. While canoeing, I would suggest taking along another bag to be able to protect your aquapac and camera when not using it. I bought the aquapac and then really contemplated taking my camera with me while we went down the river, but ended up being happy I went ahead and brought it with me. On my modified 365 day photo project, pictures #64, #65, #66, #67, #68, and #69, were taken using the aquapac (#64 was taken without removing the protective thin film thingy, but I liked the effect so I posted it anyway). Here's the websit.... http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/waterproof-camera-camcorder-cases-588-0.html

I like to canoe. But somehow I never get used to the feeling that the canoe might tip over at any time. I know what you mean about the camera. I learned to put my camera in a sealed bag that floats.

OMG who wouldn't want to canoe in this gorgeous lake. It is beautiful and serene. I wouldn't blame you for not taking your camera on the water. I wouldn't either. So glad you enjoyed the experience. I look forward to more pictures when you go canoeing again.

Enlarge it and frame it and sell it...seriously! just gorgeous.
And risk taking your camera on the canoe..you will get some awesome shots of wildlife if you do!
